I got a Clown Knife the other day, and it has been doing very well in my tank. Well tonight I was pulling a couple of other fish from the tank to move them and I noticed that my CK didn't move from its 'hiding spot' it found in one of my ornaments. Well after I was done and the knife still hadn't moved, so I pulled the ornament to get it to move, and I'm glad I did!

He got stuck!!:nilly::nilly::nilly:

Now its got scars were it was trying to get out and he's very lethargic...Not even able to just float straight, it'll 'land' on the sand and fall over. I propped it up in a better location and it's been about an hour and a half. It is still lethargic, but now everytime it 'lands' it'll fall over. I'm worried as I've never cared for a Clown before.

It's only been a few hours since it's been stuck, and the breathing has been ok, the reason I wasn't concerned till I moved the ornament.

Any experiences with these bigger knifes getting stuck and dying due to the stress?? This one is around 7 or 8".

It's been an hour and a half and my GCK seems to be doing better. It has stopped falling over now and at least is swimming upright, poor guy was probably exhausted and a bit terrorized!

Man, I was thinking,"where did I put the receipt for this fish"...I mean I just got it less than a week ago, and I'm already hooked...Beautiful and gracefull, and it or my bichers are getting rid of those pesky neon tetras!

It looks like it is hovering over some food now, so I think I am out of the woods, I just hope the scratches heal OK now...Time to go get some more Stress Coat, I ran out a week ago and haven't gone to get anymore.

Thanks for a place to vent!

It'll heal over time but some deep scars will stay. Careful with the decor. My clown knife had to upgrade hiding spots lots of times. First a piece of driftwood, then a rock, then a cave, and I'm gussing next up will have to be a huge piece of driftwood.

yes, they will heal, but just be careful when you place things and make sure they are sturdy. the stress coat will help as well as clean water parameters. make sure he has a good place to hide as well.

I just prepped up some Mopani wood and made 2 into a 'Mangrove' root for it and others in my tank, they ALL flocked right under it! Looking to get another few pieces as well as some Bamboo for the background. Last water change I did when the parameters were checked I was 0's and >20ppm Nitrates. Good enough for an Arow!

The glass on the other hand could use some cleaning now...

Thanks for all the suggestions!

welcome. Good to hear they're all alright! :D

good save with making a mangrove! :P

Hope it's all better now.

A couple of good scratches on the back, but nothing deep...It should heal up fine.

It sure is shy though, definitely a nocturnal knife! I check on it everymorning and I usually have to get my hands wet to find it. lol.
