So in 2 days I have lost 13 of my Clown Loaches. Now down to 3 of them all under 4", they are living in my 40 breeder with my Cories and Butterfly Pleco.

The problem was in my water at home... so one water heater later I have it solved!... just wish I had noticed a lot sooner.

So now I don't know what I want to do. Only fish I know that has to stay in the 220 is a Senegal Bichir. Should probably add more clowns and replenish the stock but I am just not sure.

I guess I am hoping to find a fish that would become my 'friend' large, active and not afraid to be handled/hand fed.

Thanks!

My 220 is CA/SA with a mix of larger and smaller cichlids, and I love it. I also have a fire eel in there and love him too, or you could get a couple more bichirs. What kind of fish do you like?

Welcome to MFK Kerbside!!! :welcome:

Thanks for the welcome  Wish my first post would have been a little bit more on the positive.

I had thought about fire eels, but me wife will have nothing to do with that... For whatever reason I never had too much interest in Cichlids, so not sure if that would be a good option for me.

I have had Datnoids, and grown them from 1" to 10", and then sold to a friend. I wouldn't mind doing a couple more Polypterus, but would need something mid-upper level.

Would a Jardini Arowana, and maybe a Delhezi and an Ornate Polypterus work in the 220 long term?

Just trying to think of something a little larger that could be "friendly" and not bust my tank like a RTC would.

Fire eels are fantastic, large, interesting, responsive, and hand-feedable fish. Just wondering-- what does your wife have against them? Is it the "eel" name?

[If you do get one make sure the tank is sealed really well. My wife liked our fire eel. She did not like stepping on its desiccated corpse, which was lying right by the door a good 12 feet away from the tank :( ]

How about a flagtail prochilodus? They get to about 18 inches and are really cool with the Mick Jagger lips. LOL Only 1 per tank though as they don't play nice with their own kind. Mine hit the 16 inch mark and for what ever reason I sold him like an Azz. Still miss the darn thing he would eat green pellets out of my hand. It was comical watching the big lips go for the pellet.

She just hates eels in general, kinda lucky that she doesn't give me crap every day for the Senegal, she actually finds him cute :nilly:

I am located in Eau Claire. Generally do my stocking from a couple different shops around Minneapolis.

I cannot for the life of me get a Flagtail home alive... doesn't help it's an hour + drive... 3 tries and not one made it to my drive way. Everybody else will make it fine, but not the Flagtail. Not to discount it, I would love to have one flourishing in my home. Just hard to find, expensive (here), and they just don't want to live!

Probably won't be cuddly, but what about clown knifes? Guess I'm kind of leaning towards one large mid-upper level fish with just a few on the bottom. Would either a knife or jardini be able to live full term in the 220? or would I be looking to upgrade in less than 2-3 years.
