HOT Water
I was at my LFS the other day and saw a 24x24x12 (lxwxh) tank i thought it would be a cool tank for a grow out or even to try as a breeder. Do you guys think that it would be to shallow as with my short amount of experience with polys it seems that they need a bigger foot print then anything eles, i also found a rimless 42x43x12 online along with a 36x37x18

yeah footprint is more important than height.

having said that, 12" height would be ok for juvy bichirs as a grow out or hospital tank or something. Otherwise for adults, i'd go with the 18" height. you should leave several inches between top of water and top of tank which would make your water height no more than 10" in the 12" tall tank.
