Im looking to build myself a big aquarium somwhere between 350 and 500 gallons. My ideal dimensions would be 96" X 36" X 30" (LXWXH). I've been researching glass and it can get expensive.

So I have narrowed it down to 2 choices and I need some help deciding.

1. 450ish gallons - Buy a piece of 96" X 30" X 1/2" glass for about $325 and build the rest of the aquarium out of plywood. Doing this gives me the tank I want but will cost more in labor and supplies (wood, pond armour, etc.). However, doing it this way I could sell my 135 gallon tank and make some of the money back.

2. 350ish gallons - Break down my 135 gallon aquarium and buy a 90 gallon for $150 then use the two to build a 72" X 48" X 24" tank using a plywood bottom and glass all the way around simular to Joey's latest build.

I like the idea of glass all the way around, but I also like the plywood idea for insulating purposes (tank will be in my garage). If you have any other ideas I would be open as well. I need to do this as affordable as possible, so the wife doesnt throw a fit. Any help would be much apprieciated.

Thanks

Bryan
