i just need some quick answers before i go to my lfs so i know what to get,

i have a pair of convicts in a 30 gal and i just bought them the other day,

my first question is how big does the female have to be to start to breed? mines small but you can see the orange on it (does that matter?) my males pretty big heres a video of him. http://myspacetv.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=18044620
couldnt get the female because she just stays behind the rock for some reason.

also i have bassically nothing in my tank because everything was infessted with alge so i decided to start over, what are some good stuff for convicts as decorations?

and any tips on breeding like for the fry or anything?

thanks

i think your tank is already set up for convict breeding. all i ever had was some gravel and flowerpots also for deco in a convict tank. i've had convicts in a tank with alot of rock and they rarely spawned. but when i had a tank set up like yours, they wouldnt stop.

It is right next to a window, that is why you have algae so bad. Either mover the tank or don't open the shades much , if at all. Once you move it do a gravel vac (I saw a lot on the surface and am wondering if you have one) Your tank will be algae free! Please give it the "natural" look back. The blue gravel is not aesthetically easy on the eye either (IMHO).

Get your money back for what? The new purchases are nice. Try some more plants.

Here is my 20, I breed a couple in. They say plecs are no good for breeding tanks....They do not mean con tanks! It is nothing special, just gets the job done and easy on the eyes. We eat dinner right next to it. lol. The broken pot has silicone on the edges. It looks good and is safe on the fish. You don't want to break a pot and not seal it, as it will cause harm to them.

yeah i prefer the natural look as well...but do what you think looks nice. As far as deco for convict breeding...water is about all they need :)
