This is what I tried 2 nights ago...with no success and I got really desperate. I tried dry cat food that I soaked in some water to make it semi-moist. I tried dog bacon strips that are very strong in smell that were semi-moist with water. I tried cheese hot dogs, chunks of cheddar cheese and bread. I also tried some dead fish.

Lastly, I tried a dried up small bass head that someone filleted and left on the bank. I left the bass head in the water overnight and no luck. I threw it back in the water and will see if I caught anything today. Your suggestions are REALLY APPRECIATED, I want to catch at least 2 or more of my brown bullhead.

You try corn yet? I used to catch them all the time on corn. I think the last one i caught was on corn or maybe worms, i dont rrecall, my wife was fishing with me and she caught it. Are you fishing in little creeks or ponds? I would image that by end of the month or early next month if you are in a creek to start turning over rocks on the edge of pools and looking for babies. they will mini and black.

Have you tried using nughtcrawler fished on the bottom? I take it you are trying to catch bullhead. Around here I catch alot of bullheads in small bodies of water creeks, ditches, small rivers, and ponds. If you are trying to catch them in a large lake.Try fishing in a shallow backwater or bay. I have caught bullhead in these areas on larger lakes.Seriously try fishing a small creek that is around 3 feet deep and less than 12 feet wide. Under bridges are some really good spots in these creeks.
Bullhead really like nightcrawlers!

caught my bullhead in a minnow trap. they were about 5-6inches at the time and i caught all three plus a crawdad on 3 dog biscuits.

I've caught them on balls of oatmeal and once on a berkely soft plastic meant for panfish

Since I am a female and don't have anyone that wants to go fishing, I am very limited to where I can fish. This lake is particularly large and long. I am fishing towards the end. It is too secluded to go towards the beginning. I will try the worms and see if they have any success.

If I can't catch any cats, I guess I need to wait until the May/June and look for babies or a pair. I caught quite a few bluegills on bread. Since many people feed the Canadian geese at the lake with bread, I gave it a try. You can see the bluegills jumping out of the water for the bread.

Why is that? As far as the bullheads, go to a bait shop and ask to pick thru the minnows or ask if they have any. My son has a tiger salamander now afterwhen I saw it in a bait store with some suckers. Next try to find a slower moving inlet/outlet or farm pond. In Iowa every little pond behind an apartment complex was packed with bullheads.

+1

I catch plenty of small bulls on just plain old worms.

nightcrawlers and chicken livers. best catfish baits in the world.. You have to also make sure bullheads live in this body of water. Another good bait is live bluegills and fresh shrimp and cut bait.
