Hi,i want to ask you guys advice.are there any catfish that can be house in 550 l tank with an aro and gar without making much trouble and doesn't grow too big?thanks

That's 145 US gal. Is your question for life? What aro and what gar and how big are they?

or did he mean 550 us gals lol. If so there's way more possibilities and many catfish are very peaceful with fish same size or larger than themselves.

i mean 550 l or yes,maybe around 145 us gal.maybe just just for temporary .the aro and the gar are both around 35 cm long.i just want to add one bottom dweller.is there any catfish can fit in my tank for quite a while and doesn't make trouble?

Gars are biters IME but many keepers report favorable communing of gars with other fish. I'd try something simple, like Synodontis euptera, or Pimelodus blochii, or a raphael catfish... in the order of decreasing ability to tolerate their conspecifics. Raphs are fine with each other.

None can be too little or they will become a prey. If your gar is 1', I'd say the cats need to be at least 6" or bigger.

Larger woodcats, like jaguar wood cat, or smaller Pseudopimelodidae, like Batroglanis raninus, may work too.

what species of gar? if its a flg.. i would opt for an armoured species... if one of the wide snouters (cbg,trop,ALG) I would try an armoured but be OK that it may become food. even my flg will test my eels spines and dedication to life now and then, and I don't hosue anything with my CBG w/out knowing it may end up food or simply dead one morning. If its big enough to fit they will swallow it, and if it looks like it can be eaten they will generally try. I would go so far as say get a species of cat that will get 3/4 to the same length as your gar and arrow will, and/or has a temper of it's own.

@thebiggerthebetter:ok,thanks
@MonsterMinis:mine is flg,ok,thanks too.But does my tank actually enough to keep another catfish and two of my fish for a long time?

@juzbmez: pleco?what kind of species is big enough for my fish?

A half-grown common pleco can be ok. Bigger could be better. Pterygoplichthys pardalis http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=88 see general remarks too: It is important to note that the term "common pleco" is applied to several nondescript loricariid species, especially of the genera Pterygoplichthys and Hypostomus.

Florida gar grows to 4' in the wild, usually to 2'-3' in captivity. Your 145 US gal tank is probably 1.5'-2' wide and your gar is already 1'. Depending on your feeding schedule, you may not have much time. In fact, IMO (and I stress this is just my opinion), I'd try my best not to house a 1' gar in a 1.5' wide tank. Yes, they don't swim much but they are also quite inflexible and need good room to turn around.

Here is my FL gar at 2.5' (center; in a hospital tank, 120 gal, temporarily; lives in a 1500 gal pond for now):
