Need some thoughts on multiple rays in the same tank.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
IME females are no prob at all, and males that arent mature yet are also no prob.

u need to watch when u add a mature male to a mature males tank.

is your tank able to put a divider in? i would put a divider in if you can at first and then remove it after a while, this way they get use to smelling them and seeing them before they can actually touch them. Just be sure they are eating well and get enough food, as the existing rays normally will steal all the new rays food

I have had bigger rays stress smaller rays to death. Seperating by partition may not be a bad idea. At least to be certain they are eating vigorously and can compete for food with the big boys.

Personally, I have never had compatibility issues wih rays but it does happen. I have kept 8" rays with 24" monsters before. I would like to see pics of this 1500g though if possible ;)

id say go for it....your not going to know how its going to go until you try..every ray if different... but i 4 rays together right now all different sizes 1 retic,1 motoro,2 hystrix and they are all diferent sizes and get along great. So i really think its a trial and error type thing.

i agree keeping a good male female ratio is important, as they will one day grow into men...and may fight over the ladies :)
