Im using an Okuma Spinning combo and have been using soft plastic baits, im patiant but its got to the point where ive thought of giving up fishing.

I tried several lures and soft plastics as there are no bait shops around so live bait isnt an option. What am i doing wrong? In the earia i have found several empty cans of sardines and am thinking maybe the locals are on to something.

Are tinned sardines a good bait? On my next outing im thinking of dicing a sardine and threading that vertically on to my hook then smashing up and throwing a load of the sardines and juice in to the water to atract fish.

The dams website claims there are a great many fish around including bass, jardini arowana, catfish, grunters, carp, barramundi etc.

Any tips would be great.

Cheers-

Darren

in that second picture, try heading towards those trees that are in the water. I'm sure you guys have bass down there and they love structure. you can try flipping soft plastics down there. How fast you flip them would depend on the current season, lighting and water temperature. use baits like tubes, worms, and beaver tails. you can also try plastic grubs on a jighead and basically just let it sink all the way and just reel it in slowly but don't let it come too far off the bottom

for the barramundi you can use swim baits and twitch baits...just make sure you've got a rod with a decent enough backbone. They are a handful.

Try live baits.
