So I just got a 125g and threw my festae in. And now I have an empty 90g I want a cichlid yhats big and mean. Also I was thinkibg of throwing a RTC in to. Any ideas would be grateful g hanks.!!!!

No to the rtc, will get way too big for you to house comfortably. If you want a big and mean wet pet you can go with a midas, rd, trimac, male jag, rtm, possibly a male dovii (would have to upgrade later to at least a 180 for life), etc. lots of possibilities.

Ok cool. Maybe ill do the trimac. How big do they get?? And also is there any room for something else or would I be overatocking it. Could I get some type of catfish or maybe some silver dollars.

Cuban is fine and could work with a pair. Beani is fine but only a solo male, they are too agressive to trust with tankmates, even if it's a female, in that size of a tank. Umbee will work for about a year or two, and then you'll need to upgrade to something 6' by 2' and eventually some would recommend a 300+ gallon tank for life because they are an open water predator and are super active.

Trimas get fairly large and really bulky. You could expect it to hit 14" or so in length and they are bruisers, no tankmates. If you are looking for tankmates, your best bet is to try to get a pair of something in that tank, so male and female. For some it will work for life, not true for others.

Gotta love a Trimaculatus. Personally anyways. Pictures don't do them justice to how amazing they are in person. Definitely no tank mates though and plenty of water changes. If you do go that route, go with a reputable dealer so you don't get a hybrid that looks like one and be prepared when you post pics for half the members to tell you it's a FH ;)

Just my 2 cents but go with whatever floats your boat. If you have something in mind just ask if it will work.

Unfortunately an RTC would be not be a good fit unless you are planning on upgrading to a pond :)

So if I do get a trimac in my 90 can I have some plecos.?? I was reading online and some websites said no plecos. And whats FH mean.?? And wbere should I buy my trimac at.

Check the Marketplace on here and see who has them. You could always try a pleco. Depends on the fish but if it's not seen as threat he may be left alone. Trimacs in my experience are some of the must outgoing unafraid (towards people) cichlids I have ever kept but they can also be brutal when it comes to tankmates....

FH is short for Flowerhorn which is a mix of several different fish including amphilophus trimaculatus. It is often purchased from irresponsible pet stores as a Trimac because they look very similar when Juvenile and even can as adults. I don't know how they get so confused but I saw a black belt cichlid being sold as a convict so who knows what goes on at large fish factories. It is possible to find one at a good LFS but I would very very skeptical that it was a Trimac instead of some type of hybrid unless it was large enough to tell.
