Well here is my substrate and I think I may be regretting that I went with the large river rocks instead of the small river pebbles. Problem is that everytime I drop sinking pellets and frozen bloodworms everything sink below these rocks into the egg crate I placed under the rock. All this food is wasted because my fish cannot get to it. Should I change substrate or is there an easy fix such as filling up gap with smaller pebbles? I reall don't want to change substrate unless i have NO CHOICE. BTW, the bichir is 7" so you can get a better idea how big the rocks are.

you wouldn't have to change out your whole tank, you could just setup one corner or something and make it the "feeding" corner. lay a piece of slate, fill the corner with smaller gravel, whatever floats your boat.

I would get the large stones out personally...

All of the fish poo will settle under there and raise ammonia levels...

buy some cheap sand at a pool supply store.

I would get rid of the large rocks as well. The waste and old food that will get stuck under there will ruin your water quality. Nice Bichir BTW.

I would agree. Those large rocks are just going to make your job harder.
