I am getting a another tank soon, 180-300 gallons, will probably not put polypterus in it, maybe the Lap and the biggest ornate but nothing more. What should i put in it?
I want something big. Cichla maybe? Need more suggestions!

The tank will be either 24" wide or 30" wide.

IS THIS FORUM DEAD?
How does this sound:
3x Polypterus
2x Cichla Ocellaris
1x Indo Dat
1x GATF

various cichlids, dovi comes to mind!
florida gars dont grow too big, right?
armatus
cariba
arowana
giant gurami
extremes (pushing it): clown knife, or pacu for a 30" wide but not forever

That sounds good! But, if you go as big as 300 gallons, I would add a few more Cichla.

Dont want my tank to be ruled by one fish (dovii). I cant get Armatus here in iceland, neither cariba p's. A silver aro would be possible, maybe i will add one. Dont like GG's. And the CK will be in the tank. No pacu, its not a growout tank.

Yup more cichla sounds good to me, too bad they are expensive ($30 a piece for 1.5".

The tank will either be 180g (78x24x24) or a 240g (78x30x24) so basically the only difference is 6" more width for the 240g.

Ocells get 20+ inches, so if you want to keep them long term, the 6 inches extra in width in the 240 will be important. Also, if you want a GATF or an Arrowana, the 30" width is definitely the way to go.
