I have a 37 gallon tall tank that is sitting in my basement. I plan on setting it up but don't know what to put in it. I was thinking of getting a pair of breeding convicts but after doing some reading on them I'm unsure. I would like to see the breeding activities but don't want the fry. I know I can feed them to my larger fish but have read that a couple fry from every letter manage to survive somehow. Maybe a breeding pair of parrots???? I know most are sterile so there won't be fry to deal with. I'm open to any suggestions, doesn't have to be a breeding pair. Thanks in advance.

Look into other convict types like nanolutes, sajica, honduran red points, panamensis to name a few

I've always been partial to Sajica, never really liked the rest of them.

I agree with jaws777, a 37 gal is only big enough for fish in the 3"-4" range.
Here are pics of some of his suggestions.
Honduran Red Points

nanoluteus

panamense

sajica

OK thank you. I already looked into getting the t bar convicts but it seems next to impossible to fine them. I also like the Honduras reds. The lfs normally has common convicts like black belts. Do you recommend somewhere to buy these other convicts?

Sometimes Tangled Up In Cichlids will get various types of convicts, Jeff Rapps is a well known vendor. :)
