Need suggestions on mid level tank mates.

I have a 420 gallon tank currently stocked with 2 AT dats, 2 Delhizi Bichir, 1 Ornate Bichir, 1 Senegalus Bichir , 1 Flagtail, 2 Pink Tail Chalceus, 7 clown loaches and a royal pleco. They are all relatively small. The largest being one dat that is about 5". I'm looking for suggestions of tank mates that would be a middle water column fish. With all that is in there, my tank looks pretty empty. Thanks for any suggestions.

More dats, peacock bass depending on the size of the clowns, odoe pike, you have many options it depends on what you like

A shoal of ten spanner barbs., Very active species, they shoal like giant tiger barbs, greedy and boisterous, so underated. Average 6-7" in aquariums.
Here's an older video of my tank, stock is nearly totally changed now but it shows the spanners well.

+1 for barbs.
I would do a school of 6 or 7 Filament Barbs. Males grow to 6" on average, females 4" to 5", nice iridescent colors (especially during breeding time, they are stunners) and are relatively tough.

+1 on filament barbs, I have 15 in my 180 with chalceus and clown loaches and they are a perfect fit for the middle of the tank
