Hi Guys,
I need some suggestion as I'm completely lost at the moment. The pond is 1300L and filtered with a 4000 LPH filter with UV clarifier. heated with 2x 500w titanium heaters. 6' long x 4' wide x 2' deep.
It's already matured and I've recently sold off some of the stock that wasn't suitable for top down viewing or holding me back from adding other fish.
So, currently my only stock consists of 4 Polypterus: Orantipinnis, Senegalus and 2 Delhzi. These can be sold on if needed.
Keep in mind that I am in the UK so fish that they be banned in other countries may be available to me and fish commonly available elsewhere may not be!
I've pretty much ruled out rays. Rays seem pretty hard to get hold of here. I've spent a good few days asking around and emailing people and come up with very little choice at all and people can't seem to agree on what size various ones grow to. Motoros keep being suggested to me but then someone comes along talking about a 30" round motoro that's still growing and I just can't see there being enough space for a fish that size.
My other thoughts are a jardini (arowana) or a giant albino gourami (albino because the pond is black) or a Channa micropeltes. Obviously keeping the Channa means the polys would need to go.
Does anyone have any thoughts on the above or any other suggestions?
I have a net over the pond so escaping/jumping isn't an issue.
