Hey

I'm looking mid-sized fire red fishes to my tank. Like ~5-6cm.

I found very nice red coral platy-s in my local store but i'm not sure if its reasonable. 10-15 of them would make my aquarium perfect. They were like really nice.

The problem:
I have 3x jack dempseys (very peaceful)
3x severum (ultra peaceful)
4x lifa (a bit more agressive) - they arent as red as i want, otherwise i would get more of these.
Some labeo bicolors

My tank is 400L / 100gal

If i cant find something better, I think i will "test" . like buy 3 of them first and let them be a couple of weeks.
What do you guys think ?

Red jewels?

How about few red spotted severums like my avatar? Nice red on them imo. Platties might make nice snack when your jacks get some size on them.

i would like to get a bit smaller fishes than severums. around 5-8cm would be nice. Something around Hemi Lifa-s size.

But my severums are "red spotted" but all of them are quite yellow :D Jacks seem blueish and thats why i thought something red and smaller will fit perfectly

Isn't your tank already overstocked, given how big your fish will get?
The JDs and Severum will put on some size and its going to be chaotic in the tank after they reach maturity and start fighting over territory. Doubt any platy's will survive long term nor most other smaller fish.

This site should help show you stocking limit of your tank. Also kind of helpful to show which fish would be compatible.

Yes its quite on the limit. Thats why i take care really hard of my water changes/filtering/water flow and good bacteria.

But i had 2 more JD-s before which i gave away to bring something red into aquarium :) This stocking has been working more than a year already. All my JD-s/severums are like betweeen 10-15cm(4-6in). So i'm pretty confident that i can bring something new into my aquarium, but who - idk :p

But yes i forget idea of platys. Its natural for JD-s to eat a piece of meat :)

Are there some other options except severum, red jewels.

Your tank is already over-stocked in my opinion. You can keep up with the maintenance and keep the paramenters in check, but I expect you will have issues with aggression when these fish are full-sized. 4-6" is still young for severums and jack dempseys.
Just my .02

It is not about water parameters, that is only a concern with non aggressive fish.

With aggressive Cichlids, they get territorial and will end up killing others, especially once they reach mating age.
As for the red fish, severums and jewels are your best bet. Most of the other red fish I can think off are either too violent (Red devils or Midas) or too peaceful for a cichlid tanks.
