I just picked up a tank as a leaker.
I need to take it all apart because the silicone is bad in several areas. The tank has top and bottom frames. It measures 36"l x 36"H x 24"w.

I'm fine with getting it apart.

What I need to know is how to keep it square and from sliding all around and making a mess when reassembling it?
How do you do it?

Unless the silicone is missing where the side panels meet the end panels, I wouldn't disassemble it. Just remove the interior silicone, clean, dry & then caulk it.

After getting into to it only a small spot in a lower corner is partially coming unglued.
Resealing the sides, shouldn't need to take it all apart.

My main concern is the sides are loose of the bottom.
Were they ever sealed to it like the side corners?

There should always be silicone between all the surfaces of the glass contact area.

Some tanks are manufactured so that the 'walls' of the tank sit ON TOP of the bottom pane of glass; on others, the bottom pane of glass sits IN BETWEEN the 'walls" of the tank.
If you can't tell by looking at it, using a razor blade held vertically, try to press the blade between the 'wall' of the tank & the bottom. If it penetrates the existing silicone then stops, the 'walls' of the tank are ON TOP of the bottom glass.
