need tips on painting a background

O.K. I have my clean and dry tank and my can of spray paint. Do I prep the surface with sandpaper or just mask off the back and spray? Any help is much appreciated.

No sandpaper. Just tape off the trim and spray away.

You can mask it off and spray the glass but I prefur to paint a piece of plexiglass instead and then attach it to the tank with a thin coat of PAM cooking spray. Tastes change and you may want to try a differant color at a later date. This makes it a lot easier.

yea or try water based paint and jst brush it on itll peel off if you ever want to get rid of it

Yup, just tape it off and spray away! You wont regret the finish you get from a painted background

use waterbased acrylic can of paint (I think rustoleum brand) and just brush it on...you can jst peel it off if you dont want it anymore

Yep.

This is how I painted my 125, and it peels off very easily.

you should lay the tank on its side so that the paint wont drip down wards. use krylon latex spraypaint.

thanks for the help. I went to Home Depot, it turns out Krylon is sold at Lowe's. I got Rustoleum painters touch flat black. Here are before and after pics. I'm real happy with the results.
