In the caiman den
I need to filter my new 125
Whats the cheapest method?
How about a sump?
How do i make one?

there is a lot of DIY here in MFK, just use the search feature. but the cheapest i have used was 2x cascade 1500. $300 for both. But you can check cragslist for filters.

www.craigslist.org will get u the lowest prices. Everyone has there preferences. Hang on back, canister, sump all these will work.

lol having the same issue. im just going with 2 ac110s for now because im only putting a baby channel catfish in there. thinking about the fx5 or a smaller canister to make sure im reaching deep in the tank.

i have 2 125g. one has a magnum canister and 2 ac110's. the other has 2 ac110 and thats it. not sure what the 3rd filter for that tank will be yet

Howdy,

I am always amazed to see people willing to spend money on new tanks and new fish but not on best filtration possible  After all, a filter is the aquarium's heart, lungs, and liver. Does it make sense to go cheap on this life-support system? Not that cheapest is bad, I am just curious about the emphasis. Especially without mentioning the stocking level, which is crucial information...

A couple Hydro V sponge filters and an airpump will be cheapest ...

Ya a pair of big sponge filters would be your cheapest bet. But I would spend the extra bucks for a canister and a couple hob filters.

I have an old fluval 403 canister, a magnum 350 canister, and a Penguin 330 bio wheel on my 125.

You can get Fluval 404's off ebay for $85 bucks a piece shipped. Get 2.
