This set of do it yourself wide cinder block stand holds 75 gallon breeder, 55 regular, 40 gallon breeder and a 10 gallon.

Here is the current stand, it has a flaw. If you look very close, you will see the top bricks hang over slightly all the way across. The wood underneath was cut wrong and we had to use it. I combined all the tanks along the wall. Each set of bricks is spaced out according to the tank size.

Do you think it is safe the way they are? All this was put together early September 2010. After someone informed me that his friends' tank cracked on the bottom from being a cm off the platform. I don't know if my tanks will crack too.

I know not to take the risk with the 125 that I getting this weekend. The wood will be cut right.

I'll start by saying I am actually impressed :) I like the way it looks!

Did you check it with a level when you were all done? My only concern is that since cinder blocks aren't all that precise, especially double stacked, that it might be hard to have the top all in one flat plane.

If you do tear it apart to replace the short shelf, a suggestion would be to paint everything black. It would look smokin' hot if you did!

I don't think you have anything to be concerned about.

Nice job!

Edit: I did have a question I forgot to ask...is the stand sitting on a concrete floor? You do have a lot of weight sitting on a few pressure points. If it's on an elevated wooden floor, you may want to look into your structural supports below. Take care!
