Need to know the basics please :)

Hello everyone.. I used to have a school of piranhas, so Im not completley new to the fish game.. but want to try something a little different..

I went to the pet store today and saw this beautiful sting ray, i have no idea which kind it is but I definetly want to get it..

Id just like to know what im looking at in terms of difficulty to manage ... what are the basics I should know befor I jump into the Ray world..

You're looking at a very large tank with excellent filtration and large weekly water changes, to begin with. There's a ray section here...

Waaaaaaay to vague of a question. To answer your question we would need to know the ray species, what size tank you have, how it is filtered, among other things.

Most rays get big and require atleast a 6x3 footprint, if not larger. And most ray keepers have large sumps packed full of bio media do to the high amout of waste put off by rays. I would recomend doing tons and tons of research before buying a ray, they are a pretty big investment...especially if its a short term one.

Yeah, Rays are in no way a beginner fish. Huge tanks, and huge amounts of food, pristine water and a deep bed of sand are the very basics needed.
