I finally purchased a stand for my 40 gallon breeder and the top of the stand is one big flat surface (aquatic fundamental's black stand). Now the tank has a top, black, plastic support rectangle around the top of the tank, as well as the bottom. The bottom one is not 100% flush with the glass.. clearly. So if I place the tank on the stand, only the plastic will touch the stand, and the glass base will be millimetres above the stand top, unsupported. This may lead to bends and cracks.

in the image, the red lines are the space which must be supported... but by what? wood? I was thinking some carpet that can compress?

What should I place under it for support? Thanks.

No, your tank is fine. They are designed to be supported around the perimeter. Sounds like you are good to go :)

Agreed.
