nowhere .
okay so all along my Channa Auranti has been doing very well
and feeding like a glutton .

but yesterday when i switched on the Tank's light at night ,
i noticed part of the Anal fan cut / shredded off .
it happened just suddenly like that !

around a 1cm long tear , it sure looked like the fish injured itself
( cause it was the only fish in the tank ) ,
even though theres some sinking logs with sharp edges in the tank .
but im so phobiamatic right now fearing that it might be fin rot .
it doesn't have any red swelling , no white spots and the rest of its body
except the Anal fin is in perfect condition .
it still can flare up normally , it just looked very damaged but i need more
confirmations .

i did a water change also by the way , today i observed it again .
took some pics , not so clear but i need more advices .

and also if its just a tear , i hope it can heal up nice and well back
to the old look again , looked quite serious .

basically the white thin things you guys are seeing are its fin bones ,
and some shredded skin sticking to those bare fin bones ,
also theres thinning of the skin nearby the affected area ..
so whats the conclusion of you guys ?
help me out ..

by the way the pics here were taken a day ago .
today it looked worse , theres a little new tearing of the skin to its left ..

HI,

ist the aurantimaculata alone in the tank ?
Probably another fish bite in the fin.

If its "auranti disease" then dig a hole for the fish
But from the ics it looks like a bite or a shred,
I have seen a mmature aurantimaculata 40cm long who has nearly lost its tail fin, a rock in the tank collapsed and the fishtail was trapped under it.
The fisch wriggeld so long and hard, a big peace (more than the half ) of the fin got ripped of.

This gachua had a "problem" with his comrades, lost scales, bitings in the fins and body.
After three weeks it was totally healed.

Normally things like fin cuts or bites heal quick.

hi there ,

yes its alone in its tank , and i think its a bit stressed out too .
been eating normally but he aint that active like before .

perhaps taking more rest ,
and yea i know damaged fins heal up quite fast ,
but im still quite worried haha .

tomorrow i'll be introducing Melafix to try speed up the healing process ,
be it Fin Rot or just shredded fins ..

i hope my beauty gets well soon , thanks a lot much appreciated .

remove the fish from the water and put hydrogen peroxide on the fin. dip q-tips in hydrogen peroxide and "paint" the infected area. i just did this last week on a giant gourami, followed up with a dose of jungles fungus clear tablets and all is fine now. the fin will turn a greyish color and fall off to the point of where you put on the peroxide, but will heal in time.

if left untreated your fish will quickly succome to the illness and die, i had a black aro get fin rot and it died 4 days later.

note: this worked for me, but when dealing with ilness's i always like to say "do this at your own risk"

that sounds dangerous ..

i'll see how it progresses , it has definitely worsen . :(
seemed more like a disease rather than an injury now .
i really hope he will be okay ..

the scales on the marked area started to looked like its affected also .
on both sides , a bit of rotting / damage look to it .

fish's condition has worsen a lot and hasn't interested in eating ..

prior to today , the tail is in good condition .
today i found obvious dark and white streaks along its tail .
frown.gif

and 2/3 of its Anal fin are almost totally rotting off / gone .

and i observed that dark streaks will first appear on affected areas
and then later on the rotting will soon follow ..

plus two days ago theres only like a very small bump on its upperbody .
but now you can see the scales for that whole area
bloated out / injured look . its like a whitish patch now ,
approximately 1cm by 1cm .

anyone know the real problem now ?
and which medications do you advise then ?
