Looks like Duck lips.. Many people use Metrodinazole or Maracyn, but the success rate is very very low. I'm not 100% sure if its Duck lips, but if it is, you might as well say your last goodbyes to your fish now.

Doing a large water change and adding salt won't hurt.

EDIT: After some searching, treating for Gram + and - bacteria MIGHT work, but still the chance is slim. Whats the temperature that your GT is in? Drop it to around 75 degrees to slow the reproduction rate of the bacteria. I did read something about its some type of bacteria that is resistant to medication. Best of luck to ya.

Wish I could help.....look like an injury to me. Just need to let it heel up as much as it can on it's own.

I don't think this is fighting related the inside of its mouth is really red and swollen.. it also has a round white looking ball growing behind its lips.... He was not like this last night.... Please people help don't want to lose my favorite gt:cry:

3rd picture in that thread. That fish had swelling in the exact same area as your GT. As you can see, it didn't make it. It couldn't close its mouth(Ducklips usually cause fish to be unable to open their mouths or close their mouths) and started going downhill fast. I'm pretty sure your GT has duck lips. Get him out of that tank and into a hospital tank. Duck lips is highly contagious. Add LOTS of salt into the water and lower the temp to about 75degrees. You could try Methelene Blue or Maracyn/Macaryn 2(both of these methods, not either or).

I think I recall this being a problem with flower horns and there isn't much hope of recovery. You might be able to find info in that forum.

Thanks but how the hell did he get it I do 40% water changes weekly and my water quality is good....
Also I thought higher temp is better?
