Need Wood list!!!

i am pretty sure all woods (correct me someone more experianced) are ok. The only issue is that darker woods will sink faster and therefore you won't have to boil off as long and then continue to float it ...

lighter woods you may need an anchor forever .

It might be easier to list the ones that aren't good. Off the top of my head, I'll say coniferous trees- was just going to say pines, but I'm fairly sure that spruce and firs aren't good either. Some species of cedar are supposed to be bad. Grapevine, while sold in some sketchy LFS for tank use, isn't recommended either as it will rot out.

Yeah, generally any woods that have obvious sap in them aren't good. If aged/soak long enough, I think any would eventually be ok, but with many like pine, it would take an unreasonably long time to make them tank safe...

i have heard to stay away from all soft woods. All wood will leach tannins when submerged for some amount of time but they contain more tannins and will leach longer and lower your ph.
