I need help deciding what fish to keep in my 55 gallon predator tank.
I have it separated so about 70% goes to my Talapia Buttikoferi (6 in.) , Red Tail Brycon Barracuda (8 in.) , 2 Plecostomuses (10 in.) , and a mated pair of Jewel Cichlids (3-4 in).
In the other 30% of the tank I have a Yellow White-Spotted Pike Cichlid (6-7 in.) and an Dinosaur Bichir Eel.

Now, I like all my fish, but I got a gift certificate from my girlfriend to my favorite LFS, I am thinking about getting rid of the Dinosaur Bichir Eel, and the mated Jewel Cichlids, and getting a baby Silver Arowana :asianarow to be on the side with the Pike , and spitting the tank so its about 40-60 instead.

BTW: I have the tank separated because my other fish are aggressive toward my Pike, and I want to keep him to grow him..

Tell me what you think please! any feedback is very appreciated! :)

The baby arowna would outgrow that 40% of the 55g before it even got there.....it sounds like your current 70% is too much for even the whole 55. The Buttikofori alone will out grow that footprint with a max size of 14 inches...Let alone the rest of the stock... Use the gift card on a new tank, or atleast to help get a new tank...

find a bigger tank on craigslist, save the gift card to buy food, new equipment ect

You'll need 100 gallon +, unless you don't mind seeing it cramp in the tank and do a lot of water changes

Thanks for all the replies guys, I don't know if I'm going to get a new tank just yet, Because I just got the 55 a month and a half ago.. I split up the Jewels into a different tank last night to make room, and I think I'm going to get rid of the Brycon. My Talapia is still small, as well as the Pike. If I had the Silver Arowana, Pike, and Talapia just to grow to sell, do you think I would be okay?

As everyone else already mentioned tanks already WAY overstocked. Stop considering larger fish like Tilapia and Arowana when you have a tiny 55g. If you want to house these kinds of species you need to do the responsible thing and make sure you have the proper sized tank and knowledge first.
