Hi All -
would you recommend keeping a 20" RTC in an 180gl with a 20" arrowanna, and 2 12" pacus? I have the 20" RTC that I need to give up and a few people have inquired about him who have 180gl tanks but they also have 1 or 2 lg fish in them already. My fish is in a 75gl which he has outgrown obviously. He has never been with other large fish. How will he react to this kind of change?
Any help would be much appreciated plus if you live in the NJ area and would like to adopt him, please let me know. joemauriello@yahoo.com

thanks

he may be bit scared but because of his size he is going to be okay, just make sure that after u put him in there u turn off the lights so RTC would have less stress.

and he doesn't like the lights on now. I was afraid he might attack another big fish.

thanks Bartek

he wont,he should be very careful now because he is in new tank, your RTC is in stress now but it would be okay,as long as u dont starve him for too long he will be okay with other fish's and anyway your fish's are big,too big to been eaten by him.
i got RTC that is 15" and lives with my 2 oscars and few other smaller catfish's and TWO SMALL 6-7" FIRE EELS!!!AND THEY ARE FINE,THEY BEEN TOGETHER FOR FEW MONTHS NOW!!

I am not preachig, but a 180 gal tank is NOT big enough fo a 20" RTC,he will out grow that tank quickly.I love RTC's but i know that right now i cant have 1 because my tank is too small. And he will eat whatever fits in its mouth.

As has been mentioned 180 isn't anywhere big enough for that fish but to answer the question you asked... he'd be fine.

RTC's are funny when it comes to their terrirories... I have personally done this when I had a problem with my RTC attacking another tankmate... When I changed their tanks I took out the abused fish (a smaller TSN) and put it into the new tank first and let it take over the tank for a week so it felt more confident. When i introduced the RTC into the new tank it was like night an day from before and became WAY Less agressive and moved for the Smaller TSN... I have never had a problem with them since (It wasn't a space issue either cause I actually down graded their tank from a 300 to a 270) Simply that The RTC was the first one in the Original tank and felt that everyone else was an intruder... now he is the intruder and is being "allowed" to stay.

Not saying that it works for EVERYFISH but it has worked for me...
