Palmas are always active. Mine are active. My retro and moke hide all the time.

My palmas are my most active bichirs and I think they look the best of the three species without a doubt.

I don't have a retro. The other two hide all the time. I love mokes if I could find another local or if I place an order for something that the place has a Moke I'll probably get another. Just a cool looking fish.

From just what i've seen people say, it seems palmas are a mixed bag. Some say very active while some say they hide. I've kept delhezi, senegal, and polli in my short bichir keeping time and of those three the senegal and the polli are the most active. So much so I sold both of my delhezi to get another polli. If you are looking for activity, maybe consider one of those even though they weren't in your list.
