I am planning on getting a 90 gallon tank and stand for a snowflake eel in the near future. I already have an fx5 filter that i will use on the tank. What other equipment do i need for the tank?

maybe a skimmer

Thats what I was thinking...

Anyhow I have a snowflake in a 72g FOWLR corner tank with just sand, a Fluval 405, about 50 lbs of liverock a skimmer and some lights. Params are perfect. Hes healthy, and is loving life at the moment.

well ill prolly be getting a used 90g tank. then ill have a smaller container for mixing up saltwater. idk if im going to have the money to buy enough live rock for the tank.

and i was going to start with a snowflake eel until i move up to the tesselata eel like i discussed with BIG.

i bought the fx5 and its on my 56g freshwater tank, it was really cheap on sale and i can use it later so thats why i got it. all i need is a skimmer?

Any other inhabitants in this tank you think??

fx5 will be a nice filter, but you still have the potential nitrate issue being its a canister. Just be sure to clean it often and you should be alright. Im not even sure if you would need a skimmer. I would never run a SW tank without one, but its something you can consider. I would recommend focusing your earnings to rock, as eels love to hide and can stress and get sick without proper hideouts.

i would probably get some coral rock for him to hide in. i wasnt considering any other inhabitants of the tank.

whenever you get $30-40 to spare go pick up a few pounds of lace rock ;)
It's really important with eels

Otherwise for fowlr tanks with only one fish there really isn't much to consider

Tank size and filtration seem in order, next step is paying for it :D

so all i need is a bucket of salt, the tank, and the fish then with some rock?
