I have tank that is very heavy populated with bottom feeding fish 2 featherfin catfish, 1 callichtys callichtys, three spotted raphaeal and three striped raphaeal, I had three firemouth too but each got too stress out and died. I have lots of frogbit on one side of the tank, a compact sword and five small anubias nana on small lava rock. I have 69 watt compact spiral florescent lamps that is on 9 hours a day with eheim 2217 and aquaclear 70 for filters. I use to have only 46 watts but added another workshop light which brought light level to be 69 watts. The firemouth got really stress out with the added lights there plenty of hiding spots, all three finally succumb. I have one three spotted gourami that seems to get along with my catfish that are 5-6 inches long (the featherfins and callichtys) and is doing very well! I would like to add two more blue spotted gourami or two kissing gourami is this workable?:naughty::naughty:

kissing gourami's get pretty big...around 12" or more...pretty tight for a column tank. You need something that schools are won't hang out on the bottom...rainbow fish would be a nice addition?
