I just picked up a 8-9" Fly River Turtle yesterday. I have him in my 300 gallon stock tank. I normally keep Styrofoam over the tank to help keep the moisture in and to help prevent mold build up on the walls of room the tank is in. I know I need some sort of lighting for the turtle. I need some ideas on what to do. I was thinking of uncovering a section and buying a spot light that comes on a stand and tilting into the uncover section. Would this work? I know this spot lights create a lot of heat too. I am also not sure if I would be able to get the correct bulb need for the turtle to fit on a spot light.
I was also thinking of getting a strip and building a stand for it across a section of the tank, this would really be the last option as it would take more time to do and I'd really like to be able to provide some short of lighting asap.
