i know this setup isnt going to last long, currently i have a 8 inch silver arowana in an aquarium. three days ago i added a lungfish of the same length from aquascape called an african spotted lungfish. today i added black water extract to my aquarium and tried to feed the lungfish some food (hikari sinking pellets and krill) he wouldnt touch a thing, barley even moves anymore but his color is great. is this normal behavior? not to mention when i fed my arowana some hikari se sunk to the bottom of the tank but im thinking i shouldnt have fed him because he ate two four inch aba aba knifes yesterday and he may not need to eat for a few days. temp 76f, ph 7.0 all parameters are fine. what do you guys think, the lung fish is wild caught. maybe hes just getting used to his new environment?

Also; im planning on moving the lungfish to his own aquarium by monday. im thinking (from what ive heard) once he gets used to his new aquarium hes going to attack the arowana?

Lungfish can go on pointless hunger strikes... many large predators do this, including arowana and gar. Sometimes they will just decide they don't want to eat for a few weeks. Then one day they are back to normal.

Since this is a new fish I am guessing that it is more that the lungfish is just not hungry. Might be stressed and not used to what you are offering it. You really can only give it time -- the thing is an eating machine, eventually it devour anything you put on the bottom of the tank. I would lay off the pellets for a while as uneaten ones are going to muck up your water chemistry, keep at it with the krill. If all else fails go to your local grocery store and buy some tilapia fillet. Thaw it and cut it up.

Regardless, your lungfish will be eating soon. Don't worry about it, they are very tough fish.

And yes, to reiterate your other threads question and confirm it here, the african lungfish should not be kept with any tankmates, especially a small arowana.
