needle fish care

i just bought a needlefish. Tghe lfs told me that it is a kind of gar. What is their diet and how big do they get?
probably belongs in other characins as they are not gars.... max out around 12" and as far as care keep your water clean....
i have kept asian needle nose gars in the past. they arent true gars though. get 10-12 inches. i had a trio in a 45 gallon tank. water was in the 80s. i had lots of live plants. mine ate rosey reds. mine bred at 7-9 inches. pretty easy to care for. just give them room and cover so they arent banging their noses on the side of the glass.
