I recently adopted a South American Needle Nose "Gar" and I know its not a true Gar. It came with a Lima Shovel Nose cat both fish came from a 30gal and where a little beat up when I got them. I moved them to my 110gal with a large Oscar, Jack Dempsey and some semi agressive and peacefull fish. Well the Gar just hangs out at the top acts very nervus and rushes to the other side of the tank when the Oscar comes near him and slams his nose into the side of the tank and is starting to damage it. I want to know if this will cause permenent damage and how can I calm him down I have already added stress coat and Melefix for the injury. The catfish has adapted well.

I wanted this fish for a while the ones at the pet store are about 5in and this one is about 10in so I thought I would attempt it I thought I was doing it a favor by getting it out of the 30gal I feel bad now the only other tank I have is a 75gal African Cichlid setup. I could purchase another 5 or 6in one to go with him but it would have to stay in the same tank do you think this would be wise.

I would say the main problem is the Oscar. My Needlefish couldn't handle aggression at all, something like an O will keep him stressed.
