i have a needle nose gar probaly about 3 or 4 inches long and i was wondering how to get it off of live food ontoo market shrimp and bllodworms or pellets.

go to the gar section, there will be some experts to help you. I think your gar still too small to get off feeders, if he's already accept other food he will be fine but if he don't then keep feed him feeder untill he pass 6-7''. BTW, this "needle nose gar" is a real long nose gar or just a fake gar? I heard that those fake gar will not eat some thing other than feeder!

Good luck.. I had mine over a year before he started taking pellets.. and that was only after introducing tank-mates to big for him to eat that readily ate pellets. They are very stubborn, and very difficult to get off live food.
