I just picked up a needle nose gar from my LFS yesterday and he's been getting along with my yellow tail cuda and giant pleco just fine! No stress at all, the tank is perfectly cycled and I change out about 30-40 gal of water every week from their 75g. Anyways, I noticed that the black stripe that runs along their side is only about 1/3 of the way down his body (from his tail to the bottom of his stomach), and i was wondering if this is very common for them? Could he be sick, damaged, etc? Any info would be great! I'll snap a pic later tonight when I get home.

Thanks

Well he looks the same right now as he did when I first got him, so I dunno if they had him in brackish water to begin with... Do you think he'll be fine in the fresh water? I acclimated him for around an hour, letting in small amounts of the new tank water to his bag. He doesn't seem stressed at all, he's eating plenty and swimming around with my cuda like they're best buds :)

oh oops my bad lol i was thinking of a silver needle fish sorry

but his color will prob come back if given enough time its just adjusting to his new enviroment
