My needlefish's condition is getting worse! He can't keep upright (keeps flipping upsidedown) and it's anus and the area around it is red and looks inflated and seems like that is that is causing the fish to float head down and flip upsidedown.

other culprit would be dropsy which with your needlefish's symptoms im leaning more torwards that
my oscar bit my needle fish's jaw one day when the needle fish had a feeder in it's mouth.
broke the needle fishes back i'm guessing and the needle fish couldn't get upright but could still swim.
eventually it died and i learned not to keep o's and needle fish together, good moral right? lol.

i would treat for both, kanamycin for dropsy and metronidazol for hex, kanamycin is in seachems kanaplex for dropsy and metro is in alot of commercially availible medicines for the hex, honestly if dropsy, your fish may not make it as it has progressed into the latter stages, there are other medications for dropsy but probaly not strong enough if indeed dropsy, i always recommend kanaplex for about anything bacterial as it has been the only med to bring a few of my fish back from certain death in the past, good luck
