I have been researching Needlenose fish for awhile but cant seem to get the right info!( will not get one until I get all the info I am looking for)
If anyone could anwser these questions that would be great!
What size tank should I START a needlenose in?? I have a 15, 20 and 70 gallon ( the 20 gallon is very long)
Feeders or no Feeders?? This was most confusing some say yes, some say GET THEM OFF!, and others say medicate and quarentine them, some say its impossible to get them off, some say freeze dried krill, crickets, and night crawlers?? What will be best for the Needlenose?
I have also some questions about the water qualities in the research I have found this is what has been concluded (PLEASE CORRECT AND ADD TO!) ph7, 25% daily water change, and some say add salt and some say dont??
One more question....(sorry guys..) my main concern about tank mates is I do NOT want them to scare the Needlenose, as they are very skiddish... what would be a good tank mate? would a bichir ?

Sorry about all the questions, I hope I dont sound like a fool who know nothing, I just want the CORRECT info on these guys.

Thanks!

Needlenose gars grow to be a foot I believe. If it's small a 15 gallon is okay, but the 20 would be better and 70 would be most ideal. Long term it would need the 70.

I say you can feed them feeders (that is what 95% of keepers do), but it is healthier to try to get them onto frozen foods. Feeding them feeders though won't really shorten their life any more than somebody else doing it would.

Needlenose gars like slightly brackish water. They also like to school. I would say a dragon goby would be an ideal tankmate. Nandus Nandus would be okay too and you might be able to get away with glassfish. Just remember that needlenose gars at a foot can easily eat goldfish. Many low end brackish fish should be okay.
