hi there, I just got this 20cm (8 inch) wolf fish. The seller said that this is an Aimara with Suriname as the locality.

Questions :
1. Is it really Aimara?
2. What is its locality?
3. What is the best food for it?
4. It is very docile, staying in the bottom of the tank barely moving. How to make it more active? Need wave maker maybe?
5. What color would it be when it's mature?
6. What is the growth rate for this wolf fish?

Thanks for answering.

looks like one I might be wrong they get big I had a mala common wolf fish which I fed raw prawns and fish was very agressive bit me once when it was a 5 inch juvenile and drew blood so be careful diet I think would be the same they do grow quite fast my mala grew to about 12 inches in the first 9 months sold it as 14inches they like to hide my mala would come out and swim around during the night not very active during the day

looks like an aimara to me. If the seller said suriname, that is better than anybody online's random guess.
Food for it should be meaty (obviously) fresh seafood and fish like tilapia would be good
I don't think these guys are very active swimmers, though I've never owned one tbh. If it wants to sit on the bottom I would let it.

I'm trying to feed it diced frozen tilapia. It won't like it. I might buy a live catfish see if it like them. Thanks for answering.

I’d assume 1.5-1inch per month. It should slow down toward the 20in mark. Can feed most foods and pellets.

Hard to tell but seeing some shipments from French Guyana online. Would ask the seller.

I would try to get a very good picture of it later this afternoon. Sorry for the vague and bad pictures.

Would you guys consider Aimara a hard fish to keep? I mean as far as water parameter and appetite to eat.
