I hear these little fish are mean. But how mean? Could a single "Neet" work in a community aquarium?

At it's limit, but not overstocked. What fish are you thinking are pushing it over the limit? I know the Royal Plec will get huge, but it's such a slow grower I have lots of time to upgrade. The Red Terror isn't staying. It's getting sold once it grows out a little more (it's two inches right now.)

if you are upgrading then you should be fine..but dont wait to long..and neets do get aggressive but it all depends on the individual fish..

Why not try something different. Check for information on Theraps Coeruleus. Relatively small cichlid. You don't see thm very often. Not as agro as Neets...but they will hold there own with the Archocentrus and Nandopis in your tank.

I agree Theraps coerulus are not neet. aggressive. Neets. could work in the aggressive community he has. Coerulus probaly won't. the puffer or convict will see to that. Coeruleus are cylindrical shape never kept any; I kept thier irregulare cousins with neet. nematopus before. I observed them in my friends tank with some amph. rhytismas of which I am fimilar with thier level of aggression & they didn't strike me as being able to hold their own. Then again neet. panamensis didn't either until I put them with neolamp. leleupi.
That said they (Ther. coeruleus) are a rarer fish so that to me justifies getting them just to try.If you get the neet. nematopus the gouramis will have to leave the tank even with the salvini they will have to leave soon one way or the other.

I don't keep the puffers in my 75, they are in their own 20 gallon.
