So I had some gravel outside drying out on a towel. Title tells the story :irked: its either cats or an old man bum without deoderant took a nap on it. So can I still use it or is it useless?

eh ewwww I would say toss it as cat pees are worst of all in my opinion and I'll feel bad for the poor fish that gotta put up with the lingering smell and to add ammonia in the mix with pee....

when I read the title I thought it said cat peed on your grave not gravel as the l and !!!!! looked so similiar and in the spirit of halloween.... lol

I'd toss it out.Even if you can get it clean and the smell out,I'd rather spend the money to replace it.That's just gross.

If it's natural uncoated gravel.. a good rinse, bleach, rinse, complete dry(hopefully where a bum or cat can't pee on it again) should be fine. If it's coated gravel... I'de toss it.. the smell will be absorbed by the coating more 'n likely.. and you'll never get rid of the smell in your tank in all likleyhood. >.< never had a cat or a bum pee on my fishtank gravel before though... I did have one cat poop in a bucket of dry natural gravel.. after... extricateing the poop i bleached it good 'n rinsed it within' an inch of it's life and had no problems.

toss... but it's really your desicion. If you want your fish to be stuck with the smell and the more ammonia or other bacterial stuff... go ahead.

For all the hassle I think your better off just buying new gravel.
