i bought a fish from a local fish keeper and when i netted it and introduced it to my tank i noticed as soon as i put the net in that some nematodes had came off the net. the fish was a peacock bass about 6" so still a baby i didnt see any nematodes in the bucket however the bucket was white. this was about a year ago and at the time i had black gravel and the nematodes got more and more in the end i took all the gravel out and the tank was heaving with nematodes all my local fish stores didnt know how to get rid of them. eventually and up to date they gradually went or dies off with plenty of tank maintenance and regular water changes i do still have the odd one swimming about. has anyone else had problems with nematodes ive heard levamisol is good to removed them but ive not tried it.

Do you perhaps mean detritus worms? Do not try killing them with meds, The die off will kill the fish. They're food for the fish anyway, no harm done.

they are nematodes small white squiggly worms like hair size. theyre in my predator tank and my fish are to big to see and eat them. im not going to use any meds my regular wc is decreasing the amount every week. i dont over feed either so shouldnt be food for them to live off.

I agree with C Coryloach that you are describing detritus worms and I personally wouldn't use meds but would not over feed like you stated.

Agree with Tom, detritus worms are a result of "not" enough gravel vacuuming (with water changes) and over feeding.
Detritus worms are "not really harmful, in fact they help to break down the stuff that isn't being vacuumed out, so in a way they help.
Better than the use of meds (poison), is being pro-active with more sufficient maintenance.

i use the gravel vac every wc i dont have gravel either i use it as a siphon to get rid of all the poop and always try get every inch of the bottom to get the worms.

They are in your filter.
Next time you do a water change take your bio media and vigorously swish it in some of the water removed from the aquarium and rinse out the filter housing also throw out any mechanical media and replace it.
