I am treating my tank with Nematol as I have an EBJD which had white poo. It is an internal parasite/worm teatment. It tells me after 2 days to change at least 80% of the water. Does anyone know why this is an is it essential to perform such a large water change? I use RO water and it takes about 3 hours just to fill 30L and I have a 350L tank!

Thanks.

80% does seem out of the ordinary. however Sera has a great reputation for making excellent meds. 80% water change tells me it must be powerful stuff...
Make sure u put in an extra airstone on max in the corner of your tank

I put 2 large airstones on max when I treated the tank. 2 days later, the water is now cloudy (just as it said) so I will attempt to change as much water as possible but it will be a mammoth task as I need warm water and it is cold water going through the RO unit. I am going to use a spare water heather to help heat up the new water.

I dont suppose it matters about adding water slowly does it? As it may take more than one evening!

U dont want to make it look jacuzzi in your tank. I think i nice low to med flow should be fine. Just make sure with 80% water change u add a dechlor and the temp should be about the same. Less shock means less stress. Something to think about as well. Some meds dont respond well with low ph. So u might need to do a RO 50/50 Tap for it to work. Something to look into...

I use about 10% tap water and the rest RO usually and my pH stays at 7.0. My tap water is very hard and very alkaline so it provides a good balance I think.

Sunshine, what are the active ingredients of Nematol?
