I recently got two neoarius sp from two different suppliers. I understand that N. berneyi has smaller eyes and taller dorsal fins than N. graeffei, hence I was thinking these could both be N. berneyi or possibly N. leptaspis? I'm not sure about the defining characteristics for N. leptaspis and would be grateful if anyone can enlighten me.

N.berneyi will be paler coloured underneath, N.graffei will be pretty much white underneath.
I can’t tell difference in eye size to look. And teeth patches, well no chance there with youngsters for me.

Will teeth patches only be obvious in adults?

If the tooth patch difference is small, I'd think Dave means it would be hard to note in small specimen and hard to take good photos of a small mouth.
