I saw a couple of these at a LFS and I've done some research and have considered adding a pair to the collection. However, most sources say they are aggressive and have quite the dentition to do some damage, so I was curious what kind of experiences do mfk'ers have with these in terms of aggression and tankmates that worked out ok, and those that did not. thanks! Pardon so many questions, my experience with Tanganyikans is limited mostly to a few years of breeding a couple of species of shellies, and some other common species like leleupi and brichardi in community settings.

we havent bred lellupi. We are trying o figure out whats the best possible home out of our two more aggressive cichlid tanks.

Cylindricus are basically the same as lelupi just a different pattern and coloring. Treat them the same. I have 3 in a 75 gallon tank with lot and lots of rocks. Roomies are Toae, attenuatius, calvus, fasciatus, tetracantus, meeli, buescheri, and furcifer.

Basically the same temperment. Can be nasty during breeding, just like the leleupi.

I have kept them before with a tank that included Brichardi's and Tropheus Duboisi. Everyone got alone and saw no more aggression from them than most of my other Africans.

well if he gets one it will probably then go into the tank where the lellupi and brichardi is then.
