anyone keep these guys? anyone breed these? sounds like it should be pretty easy, hoping rapps can get me 10, cant seem to find them in my lfs after i got the solo one they had.

Once you get 10 you will get 2 that will pair off, then you need to move the other eight to another tank to avoid death. The two that pair will kill the other 8 if they are left in the tank. So long as you keep your water clean the brichardi will breed readily for you.

I had a pair setup in a species only tank and they bred like crazy from the time they were around 2 inches. Both parents tend the fry and will continue to hatch batch after batch with the older juvies helping in the rearing of the fry. I had mine with two very small rock caves (one cave on each side of the tank with a single large fake plant in the center and each fish took up residence in its own cave and they selected one cave to rear the babies in . It was so cool to watch. They have to be the best parents i have ever seen. Let me know if you would like to see a short video i took of them rearing the young, it shows the male or female going back and forth to rock house where the other parent was with the young. Pretty cool.

they are so common here that I can get them at a really expensive store for 3.99 retail. lol... I have one... they a fun little guys. A pair can be dangerous in a tank with other fish

I had my pair in with large haps(Venustus, Malawi Eyebiters and Borleyi) also a Maingano that tended to kill other fish and the did just fine. I was shocked such little fish held their own in a tank with such larger species but they did what they wanted and didn't take any crap from the others.

species only, well then you should be fine. How big will the setup be? What do you plan to do with all the fry? If you get 10 can you get rid of 8 after they pair? I think you could get a pair in 4-5.
