I have 6 Neolamprologus tretocephalus in a biotope tank my problem is 3 have the darkest bars i have seen and 3 are washed out.
The ph is 7.5 -8.5 depending on my tap water at the time and the temp is now down to 78 , 65 gallon long ,with the bottom covered in rocks with tunnels and caves.
The water is always perfect low nitrate.
I know someone who has been breeding for a long time and says hes never heard of this ,i have Googled it and found nothing also.
Has anyone had or seen this and maybe has a possible solution. so far i rearranged the rock to provide lots of cover and have lowered the temp from 81 to 78 to keep any mating aggression down and i have added a power jet along the bottom also have changed the light schedule and brightness im at my wits end ..
