I have got a baby peacock cichlid in my 10g for growing out, it is only 1/2" maybe, today I bought some neon tetras for my 55g and I tossed 3 in the 10g, one died, so there are now two in there. I wanted something to look at while the baby is growing out, will these guys be okay with the fry? I dont want them to bother it or harm it, I know they can eat some live food...

I plan to get at least 4 more for the 10g if there is no issue in keeping them in the fry tank, give em a little school. Brought the little guy out to investigate for pretty much the first time so that was cool...

Loving them in the 55g, I got 8 in there right now. I want to get some more for in there too. I want to get a school of like 20 going...

get the smaller neons [not the jumbo], and i think you should be fine. they have very small mouths, and don't usually bother fry [in my experience]

Why would you want to risk the fry just to add neons? Every time you add a new fish, you may be introducing disease to the tank. IMO, fry tanks are fry tanks only.

agreed...I didnt actually intend on putting them in there. I brought the tetras home and then my friend said, hey they would look good in the 10g too. So I thought I would ask....

I dont think I will be keeping them in the fry tank, maybe once they have been in the 55g for awhile and I am sure they will pose no disease problems. There is only one fry in there right now, so I thought he might be lonely...

If you quarantine them first, you should be OK. Only 1 fry? Were there more originally, or was that little guy the only one you found?
