has anyone tried this? i know it works with other predatory fish. i think the gars are fairly fast which would screw the neons, so i think the neons would be fish food.

now is this a gar or a needlefish?

either way the neons are fish poop.

try it, should be amusing for a little while as the little blips of color disappear :)

seriously though, neons are too slow, and gars are far too fast...only a matter of time and the community fish are toast--

Agreed..

To add.. even if the neons were fast enough to get away.. Gars are skilled, and SLY hunters.. Mine will sit and wait or move around acting uninterested until one fish decides it's safe.. Then with a swift Slight of head the fish is pierced by a dozen teeth on both sides.

Plus it is hard to get them off of live and by live I mean fish. My gar I have had for just over a year now and is starting to eat some of the pellets.. he eats many other non live foods now.. But it has been a process.. And no matter what he will not pass up a tasty snack!!! :)
