Hello; Just a guess, but it may be that the female expelled the eggs due to the stress of being moved. If so they are likely to not be fertilized.
I also have observed egglayers exhibiting spawning behavior in a community tank many times. The eggs are almost always consumed.
I had a setup with a QT on the lower shelf of a stand and would siphon water and detritus from the community tank above into the QT. On a few occasions there were viable eggs in the stuff and if the QT was empty, the eggs would hatch out and I had some fry.
You can set up a breeding tank to try to save eggs. Some sort of physical contraption or proceedure may be nesessary to save the eggs from being eaten. I have not tried neons, but think they may be likely to eat their own eggs if given a chance. A lot of species do. A few species can be left with the eggs and fry.
